"I participate in the Postal Code Scheme (postcoderoosregeling) – how does this work with dynamic energy contracts?"

Postal Code Scheme: How Does the Processing Work Now?

The Postal Code Scheme (officially: Reduced Tariff Scheme) has been closed to new participants since April 1, 2021. Were you already part of a project through a cooperative or homeowners' association (VvE)? Then you may still – under certain conditions – retain your tax benefit.

Important: For the discount to be applied correctly to your energy bill, your cooperative needs to take action. Below, we explain how it works.

What Was the Postal Code Scheme Again?

The scheme gave members of an energy cooperative or VvE a discount on energy taxes for solar power generated. This applied if you:
✔ Participated in a collective solar power project
✔ Lived within the project's designated postal code area (the "zone")

The scheme has since been replaced by the SCE subsidy, but existing participants retain their right to the discount for up to 15 years from the project's start date.

What Do You Need to Know About the Settlement?

We can only apply the tax discount if your cooperative provides us with the correct details on time. They must submit:
→ Your name and address
→ Start and end date of your participation
→ The number of kWh you generated or were allocated
→ The production period (usually per calendar year)

Note: Without this information, we cannot process the discount on your annual statement.

How Is the Discount Applied?

Once we receive all the required details, we will apply the benefit to either:
✔ Your annual statement, or
✔ An interim settlement (e.g., quarterly)

The discount appears as a reduction in energy taxes on your electricity consumption (up to your actual usage for that period).

Key Points to Remember

✔ You must still live at the registered address (within the zone).
→ If you move, notify your cooperative immediately.
→ Switching to another energy supplier means you lose the discount with us.
→ Check with your cooperative to confirm they’ve submitted your details.

How to Ensure Everything Runs Smoothly

✔ Log in to your customer portal to check your usage and annual statement.
✔ Confirm with your cooperative that your participation is properly registered.
✔ Review your annual statement to verify the tax discount is included.
