The router has been replaced / my wifi network has changed, taking my charge point offline. How do I put it back online?

Making sure that the charge point comes online by following these simple steps

The charge point needs an internet connection in order to function so that it can reach Blue Current's back office environment. We recommend that this connection be made via UTP cable. When a charge point is no longer connected to the internet, it works for another five days at most.

To restore the internet connection after receiving a new router and when making use of a cable connection, please make sure that the UTP cable running from the charge point is plugged into the new router and potentially the smart charging module/smart reader (a small box with a Blue Current sticker). This way the charge point and the smart reader can re-establish an internet connection.

To restore internet access when making use of a wifi network connection, the charge point will need to be able to access the wifi network with the correct wifi password configured on the charge point.

In order to set the new wifi network or password please follow the following guide (if you have multiple charge points, this process must be repeated for each):

  1. Turn off the charge point and turn it back on. This can be done in the fuse box by flipping the switch.

  2. After about a minute a wifi network/hotspot will be broadcast under the name BCUxxxxxx. This is the charge point's serial number.

You can connect to this network/hot spot via telephone or laptop: you can do this for 10 minutes after turning the charge point on and off. After this window of time, the network will disappear. Some Apple devices cannot see the network - if it does not appear, please try again with a non-Apple phone or laptop.

3. Open a browser and type: 'setup.now' into the url bar. The following page will appear:

4. Click Next to move on to Step 2. In the exceptional case that the goal is to set the charge point to a correct charging speed before complete installation, this can be done on this page. The number of phases may be 1 or 3. The phase connection is likely to be 1. The max current setting will likely be 6 to provide a safe charging speed. If the goal is merely to setup wifi during or after a conventional installation, then this page need not be adjusted as Blue Current will make the correct changes based on information provided by the installer.

5. If the goal is to only or also set up wifi, please click Next to go onto Step 3: then click Setup wifi.

6. The next page will display all available wifi networks.

7. You can choose the correct wifi network and enter the correct password. Next, click Connect and wait a while until the network is configured.
