Do I need to add my charging token(s) to the charge point?

Is it necessary to link a charging tokens to a charge point?

The charge point's standard settings allow anyone with a valid charging token to charge their car at the charge point. This means that it is not necessary to link/add your charging token to your charge point.

There are two scenarios that would necessitate linking/adding a charging token to your charge point:

1. Limiting use

After adding one or more charging tokens to the charge point, it is possible to disable guest use. This means that charging tokens that have not been added to the charge point cannot charge at this charge point.

2. Excluding charging tokens from payment

It is possible to exclude (added) charging tokens from paying at your charge point so that you can charge for free, for instance when charging your personal EV. By excluding a token from payment, any additional charges per session or additional charging costs per kWh will not be invoiced. Anyone using any other charging tokens would still need to pay for charging at your charge point.

How do I gain insight into my (linked) tokens?

Log in to my-Blue-Current with your email address and password. The drop-down menu, to the left under the Dashboard, says 'Charging tokens', click on it and see if your token is listed under my charging tokens. On this page it is also possible to add charging tokens by pressing the 'Add charging card' button, then enter the serial number on the charging token, give the token a name and press 'add'. It is also possible to change the name of an already linked token. Select a token by clicking on it, then enter a name.

Finally, it is possible to gain insight into linked third-party charging tokens, these are charging tokens that have been added by a third party (for example your employer). It is possible to remove linked charging tokens from your charge point, provided you have the authority to do so. You can do this by pressing the three dots to the right of the token name.

Excluding a charging token from payment

If the charge sessions are not reimbursed, for example for a private car, you can exclude the charging card from payment ('Except at charge points'). If you have a charging token with a per-session charge or a surcharge per charged kWh, this amount will not be charged.
