How does the charge point work?

How does the charge point work? Charging with the U:MOVE and the Hidden charge point

It is of course only possible to charge electric cars at the charge point. Charging sessions are easily started and stopped in the following ways:

U:MOVE

In order to charge the car, a charging cable must be connected between car and charge point. When the charge point is correctly connected to the car, the LEDs near the cable will turn green. If the charge point is set to Plug & Charge, then the car will automatically start charging and the LEDs will light blue.

If the charge point is not set to Plug & Charge, the user must identify themselves with a charge card or charge token. If the charge point recognises the charge card or charge token as valid and permitted, then the charge point will beep. Next, the identification LEDs will briefly flicker green. Once the car gives the signal to start charging (many cars require a signal from the user) the charging session will start and the LEDs will turn blue.

The order of these operations is not relevant: it is also possible to identify by charge card and then attach the charging cable.

A charging session can be stopped by holding the same charge card or token that the session was started with in front of the charge point's sensor. The charge point will beep if the charge card is recognised. The identification LEDs might flicker. If it is the correct charge card then the LEDs will go back to green and the cable will be unlocked. You can now unplug it from the charge point.

HIDDEN

A Hidden charge point has no sensor to identify a charge card with - because it is hidden. Often, the Hidden will be set to Plug & Charge but it is also possible to start a charging session via the app, registered to a specific charge card.
