What is the difference between an advance payment, a settlement, and a final settlement?

Your energy bill consists of three parts that together ensure fair and transparent payment for your energy consumption.

  1. The advance payment is the amount you pay each month in advance. This is an estimate of your energy costs, based on your expected consumption.
  2. With a dynamic contract, you receive a monthly statement based on your actual consumption and current market prices. Your advance payment is settled with this: if you have consumed less than expected, you will receive a refund; if you have consumed more, you will pay the difference.
  3. You will receive the final bill at the end of your contract or when you move house. It will show your total consumption over the last period, all advances paid, and the final amount you will receive or have to pay.
